Processor: The iMac M4
is powered by the Apple M4 chip, featuring either an 8-core CPU (4 performance and 4 efficiency cores) or a 10-core CPU (4 performance and 6 efficiency cores) depending on the configuration. It includes an 8-core GPU or a 10-core GPU, along with a 16-core Neural Engine for AI tasks. Benchmarks indicate a substantial performance boost over the M1 and M3 models, with the M4 iMac scoring well in both single-core and multi-core CPU performance.
Memory: The base model now includes 16GB of unified memory, an upgrade from the 8GB in previous generations, configurable up to 32GB. This increased base memory enhances multitasking and overall system responsiveness.
Storage: Offers SSD storage, starting at 256GB and configurable up to 2TB, according to Apple.
Display: Features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with a resolution of 4480×2520, 500 nits brightness, P3 wide color gamut, and True Tone technology. A new nano-texture glass option is available to reduce reflections and glare, improving visibility in brightly lit environments.
Camera: Includes a 12MP Center Stage camera that keeps users centered in the frame during video calls, even if they move around. It also features Desk View, allowing for a top-down view of the workspace to be shared during calls.
Connectivity: The base model has two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, while the higher-end models feature four Thunderbolt 4 ports, supporting up to two external 6K displays or one 8K display. Apple Support says it also supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and Gigabit Ethernet. The included Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse/Trackpad now charge via USB-C.
Apple Intelligence: The iMac M4
is “Built for Apple Intelligence”, integrating Apple’s personal intelligence system for tasks like Writing Tools, Image Playground, Genmoji, enhanced Siri, and more.
Design & Aesthetics: Retains the thin, all-in-one design of its predecessors and is available in a range of vibrant colors, including Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Pink, Purple, and Silver.
Audio: Features a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio and a three-microphone array for high-quality audio and video calls.
Security: Equipped with Touch ID for secure unlocking and authentication.
Environmental: Designed with sustainability in mind, featuring a high percentage of recycled materials and energy-efficient operation, says Apple.

Note: While the M4 iMac provides significant improvements over previous generations, especially for users upgrading from Intel or M1 models, the differences from the M3 iMac may be less pronounced, primarily focusing on performance enhancements, increased base RAM, and the optional nano-texture display.
