Performance and features
The Mac mini is available with the Apple M4 or M4 Pro chip. The M4 features a 10-core CPU and GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. The M4 Pro offers a 12 or 14-core CPU, a 16 or 20-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine, providing faster performance than the M4. Both chips support Apple Intelligence features.
Memory options range from 16GB up to 32GB for the M4 model and up to 64GB for the M4 Pro. Storage is available up to 2TB for the M4 and up to 8TB for the M4 Pro.
Connectivity includes various ports on the front and back. The front has two USB-C ports and a headphone jack. The back of the M4 model features Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, and Gigabit Ethernet. The M4 Pro model has Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, and Gigabit Ethernet. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The M4 supports up to three displays, while the M4 Pro can support up to three 6K displays.
The Mac mini has a smaller design measuring 12.7 x 12.7 cm, with an efficient thermal architecture. It comes with macOS Sequoia. This is Apple’s first carbon-neutral Mac, made with over 50% recycled content. The M4 model starts at INR 59,900.
Comparisons
The M4 Mac mini offers significantly faster CPU and GPU performance compared to the M1 model, with more RAM and faster storage. It also shows improvements over the M2, including hardware-accelerated ray tracing. While the Mac mini M4 Pro is more portable than the Mac Studio M2, the Mac Studio M2 generally offers better performance for professional creative workloads.
