Product details
Processor: The iPhone 16 is powered by the Apple A18 chip, which is built on a 3-nanometer process, offering faster performance and improved efficiency compared to the iPhone 15’s A16 Bionic chip. It includes a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and an upgraded 16-core Neural Engine designed for generative AI tasks. The A18 chip powers Apple Intelligence features, which were available on all iPhone 16 models upon release.
AI Capabilities: The iPhone 16 integrates advanced AI features under the umbrella of Apple Intelligence. This includes smarter photo suggestions, improved Siri responses, real-time language translation, and AI-based image processing for sharper photos. Users can also create custom emojis (Genmoji) and remove distracting objects from photos with Clean Up using AI.
Camera System:
Main Camera: It features an advanced dual-camera system with a 48MP Fusion main sensor. This enables super-high-resolution photos (24MP and 48MP) and a 12MP 2x Telephoto option utilizing the main sensor.
Ultra Wide Camera: A new 12MP Ultra Wide camera with autofocus and a wider aperture allows for improved low-light performance and macro photography.
Camera Control Button: A new dedicated Camera Control button simplifies access to camera functions like zoom and exposure, acting as a two-stage shutter. It also enables Visual Intelligence features, allowing users to interact with objects seen through the camera.
Video: Supports 4K Dolby Vision video recording at various frame rates, Cinematic mode, Action mode, and spatial video recording. New Photographic Styles offer greater control over image aesthetics with live previews and post-capture editing.
Design: The iPhone 16 retains the aluminum design with a color-infused glass back and rounded edges. A notable change is the return to a vertical camera layout for the dual-lens system, enabling spatial video recording. The Action button replaces the mute switch, and a new Camera Control button is added. It’s available in five vibrant colors: black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine.
Display: The iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 2556×1179 pixel resolution at 460 ppi. It retains the Dynamic Island, offers HDR and True Tone technology, but maintains a 60Hz refresh rate. The display is protected by a next-generation Ceramic Shield, which is reportedly twice as tough as previous versions.
Battery and Charging: The iPhone 16 has a 3,561 mAh battery, a 6.3% increase compared to the iPhone 15. It supports faster 25W MagSafe wireless charging (with a 30W adapter or higher), allowing for a 50% charge in about 30 minutes. Standard Qi wireless charging is also supported at up to 7.5W. The phone supports fast charging, according to Belkin.
Other Features: The iPhone 16 supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G connectivity (sub-6 GHz and mmWave in some regions), and includes a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip. It comes with Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite features for safety. The iPhone 16 ships with iOS 18 pre-installed.
