Design and display
The iPhone 16 Pro boasts a durable and lightweight Grade 5 titanium design with a new micro-blasted texture and refined thin borders. It is equipped with the latest-generation Ceramic Shield, which is reportedly twice as tough as any other smartphone glass. The device is also splash, water, and dust resistant, with an IP68 rating. It is available in four colors: black titanium, white titanium, natural titanium, and the new desert titanium, replacing the blue titanium of the previous generation.

The iPhone 16 Pro features a slightly larger 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, a slight increase from the 6.1-inch display of the iPhone 15 Pro. It has a 2622×1206 pixel resolution at 460 ppi. The display includes features like Dynamic Island, Always-On Display, ProMotion technology with adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, HDR, and True Tone. The display’s maximum brightness reaches 1,800 nits in auto mode, with a peak HDR brightness of 1,600 nits, while the minimum brightness can drop to just 1 nit for comfortable viewing in the dark.

Performance
The iPhone 16 Pro is powered by the Apple A18 Pro chip, a significant upgrade built using the second-generation 3nm process. This chip features a new 6-core CPU (with 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores), a 6-core GPU, and an upgraded 16-core Neural Engine designed to accelerate machine learning tasks, crucial for Apple Intelligence features. Internal design improvements, including a 100% recycled aluminum thermal substructure and back glass optimizations, lead to better heat dissipation and up to 20% better sustained performance than the iPhone 15 Pro, especially benefiting high-intensity tasks like gaming. It offers 8GB of RAM.

Camera system
The iPhone 16 Pro features a triple camera system with a 48MP main camera with sensor-shift OIS, a new 48MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 12MP 5x optical zoom telephoto camera with 3D sensor-shift OIS and autofocus, notes GSMArena.com. The 5x Telephoto camera, previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, is now standard on both iPhone 16 Pro models. The new 48MP ultrawide camera is designed for super-high-resolution photos and improved low-light performance. The main camera also allows for super-high-resolution photos (24MP and 48MP) and a 12MP 2x telephoto option.
A new tactile Camera Control button on the side provides quick access to camera features like zoom and exposure. It acts as a two-stage shutter and can also launch the camera app even when the phone is locked. The iPhone 16 Pro
supports 4K 120 fps Dolby Vision video recording, spatial video recording, and ProRes video recording up to 4K at 120 fps with external recording. It includes four studio-quality microphones with wind noise reduction and Spatial Audio capture for immersive video and audio recording.
Apple intelligence
The iPhone 16 Pro is built for Apple Intelligence, featuring a faster Neural Engine to power a range of new AI capabilities. These include enhanced Siri features with richer language understanding, the ability to create custom emojis (Genmoji), AI-powered image editing features like Clean Up, and deeper integration with apps.
Battery and charging
The iPhone 16 Pro is equipped with a 3,582 mAh battery, an increase from the iPhone 15 Pro’s battery. It is rated for up to 27 hours of video playback. It supports faster MagSafe wireless charging at up to 25W (with a 30W adapter or higher) and also Qi2 and standard Qi wireless charging. It is fast-charge capable, reaching up to 50% charge in about 30 minutes with a 20W adapter or higher.
